Ayurveda and Light Therapy
The goal of Ayurveda is to bring the body and mind back into balance so that it can do the work of healing itself. It is our birthright to regain this ability. Ayurveda offers many channels for achieving this state of balance including nutrition, body therapies such as massage, use of herbs and spices, color and light therapies, and management of daily practices that benefit circadian reset. Healing the digestion is one of the most important goals as it is intimately related to so many crucial bodily functions.
Red light therapy. Ayurveda teaches us that the morning sun is healing light. It encourages us to expose our skin and eyes to morning light for the wellbeing of our circadian rhythms, eyesight, and mood regulation. We now know that morning sun is rich in red and infrared light frequencies, which help prepare and protect our skin from exposure to the harsher mid-day UV rays.
Red light therapy can deliver ATP deep into the cellular level, boosting mitochondrial function that promotes repair and healing.
Depending on where you live in the Bay Area you may not have much exposure to this morning light. Morning fog and clouds intercept these beneficial red spectrum rays most of the year, disrupting circadian rhythms, sleep and mood.
LED vs Laser. While Red light LED panels can help with external and visual exposure to Red light, it is limited to surface level absorption. Infrared laser therapy delivers this natural and drug free healing light deeper beneath the surface where benefit can be achieved into organs, joints, bones, and deep tissue. The results are nothing short of remarkable. Thousands of published studies over the last 40 years demonstrate the safety and effectiveness of Infrared Laser therapy. Also known as Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) or Photobiomodulation (PBM), Red light therapies have gained wide acceptance among top doctors.
